Babson College Readmission Policy for Non-Medical Withdrawals
Purpose
This policy outlines the process and criteria for students seeking readmission to Babson College after a voluntary or administrative withdrawal. It is distinct from the Voluntary Medical Withdrawal process, which is governed by a separate policy.
Eligibility
Students are eligible to apply for readmission if:
They have withdrawn voluntarily or were administratively withdrawn
At least one full semester has passed since the withdrawal
They are in good financial standing with the College
They have resolved any conduct-related sanctions or holds. Students who were academically or judicially dismissed from the College are not eligible to apply for readmission.
Application Timeline:
Summer Semester Readmission: Applications due by February 1
Fall Semester Readmission: Applications due by March 1
Spring Semester Readmission: Applications due by October 1
Late applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Application Requirements
Students seeking readmission must submit the materials outlined below to the Department of Student Advising & Success (studentadvising@babson.edu) to initiate the readmission review process.
A Personal Statement (1 page) addressing:
What was the reason for your original withdrawal?
What activities have you undertaken during your time away (e.g., work, study, personal development)? Have you completed courses at another college?
Why do you believe now is the right time to return to Babson and how have you prepared to return to the Babson community?
If applicable, what strategies will you use for academic and personal success upon your return?
Official Transcripts from any institutions attended during the absence and course syllabi. If currently enrolled at another institution, a CommonApp College Report is also required.
Review Process
Applications are reviewed by a Readmission Committee composed of representatives from Academic Affairs, Student Advising & Success, and Undergraduate Admissions as well as Student Financial Services and International Student & Scholar Services if applicable. The Committee may request an interview or additional documentation. Decisions are communicated within 2-3 weeks of the application deadline.
Conditions of Readmission
Readmitted students may be subject to:
Academic probation
Housing and course selection limitations based on availability
Registration holds until all conditions are met
Appeals
Decisions regarding readmission are final and are not subject to appeal. An exception may be made only if the student can demonstrate that relevant information was not considered due to an administrative error by the College during the review process.
