MKT4511 Sales Management in a Changing World

4 Advanced Elective Credits

Although it’s not surprising that most marketing majors take sales roles at some point, it may be more so that up to 60% of non-marketing majors also end up in sales roles. And the ramp up in those sales roles from individual contributor to sales leadership can be faster than in many other business disciplines. This course prepares you to take advantage of that opportunity when it presents itself.

In this course you will spend most class sessions in the role of a sales manager – assessing real situations and making decisions despite ambiguity and incomplete information, just like managers do. You will build the four types of thinking that separate average managers from standout leaders: expert, critical, and strategic while diagnosing challenges, interpreting data for insights, deciding how to leverage and nurture human capital ethically and responsibly, and building on decisions collaboratively as you and your colleagues cultivate your managerial intuition. Expect a lively atmosphere, several guest speakers, and many interactive sessions where you and your colleagues take the lead.
